The cord from the pump to the light is very short - about 4". This doesn't give a lot of flexiblity for placement. I have a fountain that is actually designed for this type of light but can't use it the way it should be used because the cord is not long enough to fit through the shaft. Plus it is too big to fit through the hole at the top so that it will sit in the designed spot. The other pump & light was solar and the light was a separate unit and the wire would feed from the top. But because the cord is so short, I even have a hard time placing it properly in the bottom of the fountain (suction cups to hold in place would be a good idea). A separate light would be could but I have not been able to find the light alone. However the pump does work well and the lights do look good. Prefer it to the solar.
