Pump Care

To avoid shortening the life of your PowerJet Pond Pump, please follow this procedure. Maintenance is essential and simple to carry out.

Once a week - Remove and clean strainer (depending on pond conditions).

Once a month - Remove and clean impeller assembly checking for build-up of lime scale which can seriously affect the pump performance. Impeller well should also be checked.

To keep your PowerJet pond pump in good working order always replace any worn parts.

Laguna PowerJet 2400 Electronic Fountain Pump Kit Review

I just purchased the PowerJet 2400 and the pump cage was improperly assembled at the factory. The top was forced during assembly and broke a hole in the top of the cage. I spoke with a Laguna (Hagen) representative who expected me to ship the unit to them and they would decide the course of action. This is completely unacceptable as I need a pump now. Their attitude of "the customer is wrong until proven right" is not one I care to do business with. I expect to receive a non-defective product whenever I buy something and sure do not expect to pay freight to return their defective product to them.

10/18/2010 I patched up the broken portion and have been using this pump continuously for almost 2 years and it has functioned perfectly. The small holes in the cage do plug up with algae growing on the screen and in some particularly heavy growth periods it has to be cleaned frequently. I have compared several pumps and this is the lowest wattage pump for the flow rate I have found. Actual measurements even taking consideration of the power factor it draws only 83 Watts. I am completely satisfied with the pump and am considering another only this time the Max Flo pump for the larger holes in the cage.

This is an excellent low cost, high quality weathervane roof mount! Made of aluminum so it is light weight and will not rust away over the years up on your roof. As an avid garage sailor/antique dealer, I'm frequently running into weathervanes without the roof mounts. I had been purchasing them through a Antiques Parts Replacement catalog at a much greater price. As it turns out, the quality wasn't as nice as these obtained through Amazon either! ROOSTER Weathervane Review

The weathervane is cute, as you can see from the photos. It's not evident from the description, but the item is made from pretty lightweight steel, easily bendable with your hands. This is not a problem once it's one the roof.

I was very disappointed in the packaging and customer service. Despite paying $14 for shipping and handling, the item was poorly packed and arrived bent and with badly scratched paint. I contacted customer service. They wanted me to pay for shipping the item back to them, and after they received it, they might send me a replacement, as if it were my fault they packed it badly! It was less time, money and hassle to just buy a can of spray paint, so that's why mine is black in the photo above.

We are pleased with the way it looks, and it's just the right size (and price) for our chicken coop. Appearance-wise, it's a decent value for the money. Don't count on it to tell you what's happening with the weather--the weathervane part is tail-heavy, and ours has never moved, even in strong winds.

Golden Eagle Weathervane Review

OK, my first review of this wasn't so good, the instructions were not good enough and a part broke during assembly. I contacted the seller and they put me in touch with the distributor who helped me with the instructions and is sending a replacement for the broken part.

Just to be clear on this item - the shaft is separated by 3 banded segments, the large ball rests on the bottom band which has a squared shaft, the directionals rest on the middle band which has a round shaft, and the small ball rests on the top band which also has a round shaft.

Having said that, the item is rather cheaply made of cheap materials, the metal items are a lightweight potted metal and not cast iron as it looks to be, and the balls are a cheap and very thin plastic. Not at all worth even half what I paid for it (should be a $25-$30 item max), and probably won't last very long either. I expect to have to replace or repaint it in a couple or three years.

I received the replacement part from the distributor and the item has been installed and working perfectly fine for a couple years now. While the part that broke seemed to break too easily, it did happen because I wasn't correctly assembling it and tried to force it together the wrong way. And they did send the replacement part free of charge, so kudos to the distributor. But this is a defect in the instructions not the product. Used correctly, the product is perfectly fine and I'm sure will last a very long time.
