product is excellent....this is our second vane, first was 15 yrs. old and was taken out by a tree landing on our small barn....can't tell the difference from the old to the new (except for how bent up it is)... the powder coating is still great on the old one....mfg. recommends coating vane with a clear coat...first one was not coated and is perfect...my experience with coating is that it always peels off and looks like crap....i would not coat it.....Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "CARDINAL Weathervane" are high quality item.
